Shopify From Scratch – Day 2: Creating Your Shopify Account (Beginner Friendly)

Yesterday, we covered what Shopify is and how beginners actually make money with it.

Today, we move to the first real action step.

No technical skills.
No confusion.
No pressure.

Just creating your Shopify account the right way.

Before You Start (Important for Beginners)

You do NOT need:

  • A company

  • GST number

  • Paid plan

  • Product ready

  • Logo or brand name finalized

You DO need:

  • An email address

  • 10–15 minutes

  • A clear mind (no rushing)

Shopify is designed for beginners.
Let it stay that way.

Step 1: Go to the Official Shopify Website

Open your browser and go to:

Always use the official website.
Avoid third-party signup links when starting.

Step 2: Click “Start Free Trial”

Shopify usually offers a free trial (duration may change).

Click Start free trial and enter:

  • Email address

  • Password

  • Store name (temporary is fine)

⚠️ Important:
Your store name can be changed later.
Do NOT overthink this step.

Step 3: Answer Shopify’s Setup Questions (Keep It Simple)

Shopify may ask:

  • Are you selling already? → Choose No

  • Where will you sell? → Choose Online store

  • Are you setting this up for a client? → Choose No

These answers do NOT lock you into anything.
They only help Shopify show a beginner dashboard.

Step 4: Create Your Shopify Dashboard

Once logged in, you’ll see the Shopify admin panel.

This is your control room.

Don’t click everything.
Don’t install apps.
Don’t change themes yet.

For today, your goal is only this:
✔ Successfully access your Shopify dashboard

That’s it.

Step 5: Understand What You’re Seeing (Basic Orientation)

Inside the dashboard, you’ll notice:

  • Products

  • Online Store

  • Orders

  • Customers

  • Settings

Do not panic.

You are NOT expected to understand everything today.

Think of this like entering a new city.
You don’t explore every street on Day 1.

Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid Today

❌ Buying a paid plan immediately
❌ Installing random apps
❌ Copying YouTube “hacks”
❌ Designing before understanding structure
❌ Quitting because it looks unfamiliar

Confusion at this stage is normal.
Quitting is optional.

What Success Looks Like for Day 2

By the end of today, success means:
✔ Shopify account created
✔ Dashboard accessed
✔ No money spent
✔ No apps installed
✔ No pressure

Progress beats perfection.

What’s Coming on Day 3

Tomorrow we’ll cover:

👉 Day 3: Choosing the Right Product (Without Guesswork or Scams)

This is where most beginners fail — and where we’ll slow things down.

Final Thought

Starting is not about doing everything.
It’s about doing one thing correctly.

Today, that one thing is:
Creating your Shopify account calmly and correctly.
